Cleaning specialist supports Professional Tennis

Kärcher is the official premium partner of the MercedesCup 2017 at the Weissenhof in Stuttgart. The family-owned company from Winnenden ensures cleanliness and the best possible tournament conditions during the international tennis event with its cleaning equipment.

"We are very proud to contribute to the success of this high-profile traditional tournament in Stuttgart", said Hartmut Jenner, Chief Executive Officer of Kärcher. "On the one hand, we are using various cleaning tools for the cleanliness of the entire facility; on the other hand, we have developed a special solution for this event to extract water from the lawns."

"With Kärcher we have a strong and reliable partner from the region, who will enhance the tournament with its presence", explained Edwin Weindorfer, tournament manager and organizer of the MercedesCup. "Athletes and spectators alike will benefit from the professional service", he added.

Special wet and dry vacuum cleaners ensured that the lawns were dry and playable after a shower. For this, several parts of the device, such as the chassis and the suction system, were adapted to the conditions on the green. In the case of heavy rain, two submersible pumps ensured that the rainwater accumulators at the centre court did not exceed their maximum fill level and that the water can drain continuously.

In addition, battery powered leaf blowers were used for cleaning the routes. Hot water high-pressure cleaners of the type HDS 8/18 ensure clean ranks at the centre court and in the VIP areas carpet cleaners and wet and dry vacuum cleaners were used.

The Mercedes Cup, held at the TC Weissenhof in Stuttgart, is one of the most traditional and important tennis tournaments in Germany. The first edition dates back to the year 1898. The tournament, which has been held for a long time on sand, has been played on grass courts since 2015 and has gained enormously in prominence as an important component of the "Road to Wimbledon".
