International Day of Museum

Kärcher took part on the International Museum Day the seventh time.

This year's motto was "Museums and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museum".

Kärcher sponsered this event including food and drinks and asked for donations for the SOS Kinderdorf Baden-Württemberg (orphanages).

About 650 visitors enjoyed the exciting tours of Kärcher Museum and the special exhibition of historical Kärcher machines. They could look by their own or could take part in a professional guidance from Kärcher History Management. Kärcher also showed historical movies.

Historical unrestored machines were showed next to the actual successors. The visitors could see the traces of time.

There were also exhibited some curiosities. Kärcher showed a catamaran for example. In the beginning of 1970 Kärcher started to manufacture the covers of high pressure washers with glass fibre reinforced plastic (GFK) and the employees in Gissigheim produced a catamaran with the same material.

Furthermore Kärcher organised an "Oldtimer Shuttle". This means a classic bus drove around Winnenden.

The Classic Freunde e. V. had organised an exhibition of classic cars on Kärcher's areal on this sunny day.

There were also great programs for children:

The could walk over the barefoot path and cleaned der feet with the new OC 3 afterwards, use the steam cleaners on a special sign, create their own FlipFlops and took part on a scavenger hunt. The aim for the kids on the splashback was to navigate three balls into the goal and on a further station they could disassemble and assembele an engine of a classic car.

The children had a lot of fun at this various actions.

The aim of the event was to give an insight into the history of Kärcher and to create curiosity in cleaning and technology.
