Kärcher at Red Bull Knock Out

On 28 and 29 November, the fourth edition of the spectacular “Red Bull Knock Out” took place on “The Hague Beach” in Scheveningen. With a 3 mile track and 1500 motorcycles at the start, it is considered to be the most challenging beach race in the world! During the weekend, sand, salty seawater and wind gusts of up to 120 km/h took their toll on both riders and their motorcycles. Therefore, cleaning the machines after each race proved to be essential for success.

Luckily, the riders could turn to Kärcher for assistance! After each heat, they were able to clean their motorcycles, in less than five minutes, at the special “Kärcher Cleaning Area”. The area was made up of 30 individual wash boots existing of a Kärcher HD 5/11 and specially designed 360 degree rotating bike stands, making it easy for riders to maneuver their motorcycle when cleaning. This allowed us to clean 350 motorcycles per hour. The importance of the Kärcher Cleaning Area was made very clear by the numerous reactions from the 1500 participants. “Extremely important”, “much needed” and “essential under these circumstances” were often heard remarks made by riders about Kärcher’s presence.

The waste water mixed with sand, grease and oil which of course had to be handled with care, adhering to strict environmental regulation. The water was collected and pumped into a huge special container placed in the Kärcher Cleaning Area and pumped into special tanks, after which it was transported and processed by a specialized company.
